How is that possible?
Unresolved emotions from the past, whether it is the recent or distant past still drive your behaviour; albeit, unconsciously. Like the bars of a cage, these painful emotions keep you trapped, unable to move forward, to evolve into the best version of yourself. This ‘below the radar’ emotion feels like an unexplained restlessness, an itch that cannot be scratched. An author described this nebulous feeling, ‘as something inside yourself but outside your control.’ It is one of the causes of stress.
Hypnotherapy for stress and anxiety helps you explore and come to terms with your past experiences, to release the stress from the past. Then you had neither the understanding nor the resources to deal with the situation. When emotions from the past are dealt with acceptance and love, it frees up your energy to concentrate and focus on what’s important to you now. Coming to terms with your past does not mean the ‘damage’ never existed. It means the ‘damage’ no longer controls you in any way. This then sets you free to be yourself; to accept yourself with ease and grace, aware that those experiences shaped you so you can feel proud of whom you are today. The masks that you wear for protection, for approval, for hiding behind, effortlessly drop off. For you know, you are ENOUGH even though you are still work in progress.
As we all have free will, success in therapy happens when client and therapist work together as a team. As I tell my clients, you can bring a horse to water, you cannot make it drink. Even in hypnosis, you are still in charge and in control. Nobody can make you do anything against your will. Confidentiality is always assured.
